Seamus Clifford has been appointed to the Board of COLBEA joining twelve other local business leaders.
06 December 2011
The Colbea Board of Directors is made up of highly skilled people from the Colchester business community, whose expertise is essential to the smooth running of the region’s premier advice and business incubation centre.
See http://www.colbea.co.uk/our-people/colbea-directors/
All the directors provide their services free of charge on a voluntary basis, serving the community in which they work. Their skills range from human resources through to legal, financial and marketing, providing Colbea with a wealth of resource and guidance. The board is led by Chairman, Dr Malcolm Braithwaite and Chief Executive, Mr Bob Baggalley.
Supported by Colchester Borough Council, Colbea manages two business centres within the town, one in George Williams Way just off Magdalen Street and the second on the North Colchester Business Park. Both provide office suites with flexible and fully inclusive ‘easy in easy out’ rentals, allowing businesses to grow without taking on the burden of long leases. In addition, tenants have the option of free on site business advice from accredited advisors. The national failure rate for new businesses stands at approximately 40% but that is reduced to just 15% for businesses that receive advice from Colbea.
Seamus explains why he is delighted about the appointment:
“As a firm we are committed to a strategy of helping business start-ups, recognising the increased importance of the entrepreneur in these economic times in building businesses which will be Colchester’s future in terms of employment and financial prosperity. This appointment is the natural conclusion to a year focussing on supporting young businesses which has included sponsorship of The One competition and I am delighted to now be in a position to help even more of these types of businesses succeed.”
