Insolvency / Commercial Litigation Solicitor

 

 

Overview

Working alongside Partner and Solicitors in the Insolvency team, based within the Dispute Resolution department.

Dependent on experience

Working hours:
Monday to Friday, 9.00am to 5.30pm, 1 hour for lunch

Holiday entitlement:
25 days per annum

Report line:
Partners and Associates in the Insolvency team and Dispute Resolution department

Duties will include:

  • Running a caseload of contentious Insolvency and debt recovery files, together with assisting on general insolvency and banking litigation;
  • Supporting the Insolvency team and the wider Dispute Resolution department and its growth;
  • Business development and client care.
  • The caseload will include:
  1. Advising Trustees in Bankruptcy, Liquidators and Administrators.
  2. Banking litigation including security enforcement for banks/lenders;
  3. Administration appointments, both in Court and out of Court;
  4. Winding up and bankruptcy petitions;
  5. Debt recovery and associated disputes;
  6. Contentious insolvency cases, including claims for misfeasance and antecedent transactions;
  • This position is based primarily in the firm’s Colchester office but travel to the firm’s offices in Ipswich and Chelmsford will be required regularly;
  • A willingness to be involved in the networking, training and marketing activities of the team, including presentations, briefings and attending both internal and external functions.

Experience required:

  • 4-5 year PQE, although relevant experience will be considered over PQE;
  • Good technical knowledge and understanding of both insolvency law and general commercial litigation, including Civil Procedure;
  • Experience of commercial litigation work and insolvency litigation and advisory work;
  • Strong communication and organisational skills;
  • Excellent attention to detail;
  • Ability to work to deadlines, including a willingness to work beyond usual working hours in order to do so (if required); and
  • Business development skills
