Ellisons’ Commercial Property Partner, Philip Roberts, has acted on the purchase of a local convenience store, ‘The Tuck Shop’, in Walberswick, near Southwold.

The new owners, The East of England Co-operative Society, will re-open the shop on Thursday 16th August, after a refurbishment. The purchase has come as a welcome relief to the residents of the village, who initially thought the store would close down completely upon the previous owner’s departure.

Nick Denny, Executive Officer for Property at the East of England Co-op, said: ‘‘We are delighted to announce that we are the new owner of the Tuck Shop.

“This is a community store which fits well with the society’s profile and we are proud to be able to take over the running of what is obviously a much-loved and essential part of the village.”

‘‘Philip offered an excellent and smooth service when it came to the purchase of the Tuck Shop, enabling us to move quickly with the refurbishment, ensuring we open promptly for the residents of the village.’’

Philip said: ‘‘We are pleased to be able to act on behalf of the East of England Co-op on this purchase. Keeping the store open, and in the safe hands of this well established firm, is clearly something the residents wanted.’’
