Ellisons Solicitors were proud to support the Colchester Foodbank this December, by organising a firm wide collection of food products for the charity.

The collection was organised by Trainee Solicitor, Bethan Williams, who has volunteered at similar organisations in her hometown of Ipswich.

Bethan said: ‘‘When we started the collection about two weeks ago, I had no idea just how much food we would be able to donate. When we visited the Foodbank at the beginning of December, they confirmed we had donated 140 kilos! A terrific achievement.’’

The Colchester Foodbank helps the people of Colchester during crisis situations, whereby they are unable to put food on their table. After being referred, they receive food parcels from the charity. From January 2014 to date, they have already distributed 52 tonnes!

With the help of their 50 active volunteers, they were able to give out 294 parcels in October alone and no doubt as Christmas creeps up on us, this will only increase.

An anonymous quote was given to the charity just recently, highlighting just how much the donations mean to many people across the town: ‘‘I can never thank you enough for helping at such a hard time in my life.’’

People wishing to donate are able to do so by dropping their contributions to 33 Moorside Business Park, Eastgates Colchester, Monday-Friday 10am-4pm and Saturdays until 1pm.
