We are thrilled to be sponsoring this year’s Illuminate festival in Harwich as part of the upcoming Mayflower 400 celebrations.

Taking place in this historic town on Friday and Saturday, 29 and 30 November, Harwich will be lit up with dazzling immersive projections right across Harwich Quay. Friday will also host a spectacular torch-lit procession, kick-starting a year of worldwide Mayflower 400 celebrations.

The year-long Mayflower 400 celebrations will honour the successful voyage of 102 English Pilgrims and approximately 30 crew members as they ventured from Plymouth to America, known to English explorers at the time as the New World in 1620. Captained by Christopher Jones, who lived and twice wed in Harwich, the Mayflower ship was also built in the historic town.

Guy Longhurst, Managing Partner, said: “With firm roots in Harwich and our service expansion into immigration law, sponsoring such a majestic and historic event is a great fit for Ellisons. The event was incredibly popular last year and we’re delighted to be involved in such an important local celebration.”

Crowds will gather to see the procession through the old town from 5pm on Friday 29 (the procession will begin at 5.45pm). The evening will conclude at approximately 10pm.

Saturday will see live entertainment with some unique acts, hosted by Steve Scruton and Ian Wyat from BBC Radio Essex from 3pm. The event will kick off at 4.15pm with a fireworks flight from the Fireflies – a firm favourite in the Clacton Airshow twilight display. The evening will conclude at approximately 10pm.
