At the prestigious Suffolk Business Awards, held at Kesgrave Hall on Thursday 29th September, the Ellisons Solicitors team were thrilled to be presented with the Education in Business Award.

Sponsored by Suffolk New College, the Education in Business Award celebrates businesses that are committed to the development of their current and potential employees.

Ellisons Solicitors is one of the oldest, most established and fastest growing firms in the East of England. With offices across Suffolk and Essex, Ellisons’ exceptional longevity can be attributed to its tradition of proactive, friendly and highly-personalised client service. This level of expertise and care begins with making sure all colleagues are supported.

Providing quality education and thorough training for all colleagues, Ellisons Solicitors continuously goes above and beyond when looking to develop and grow its diverse team. Their highly successful trainee scheme has run for over 25 years, and in September 2021, Ellisons introduced a dedicated programme for apprentice solicitors.

Last year, the firm also launched the Ellisons Academy. This exciting and unique module-based development programme is open for all colleagues at the firm, supporting them to further their career and achieve personal goals.

Designed specifically for each career stage, team members are able to learn a variety of skills, ranging from exceptional client service and effective communication to advanced financial management. Colleagues can also develop their coaching and mentoring skills so they can provide support to their colleagues, as well as learning how to manage their wellbeing on a day-to-day basis.

Chief Operating Officer and HR Director, Lizzy Firmin has been instrumental in ensuring Ellisons Academy launched last year, developing many of the courses alongside other senior colleagues.

Celebrating their award success, Lizzy says, “At Ellisons, our priority is to support every member of the team, no matter their area of expertise. The Ellisons Academy invests in each individual to ensure they have the confidence to excel in their role, whilst also supporting personal ambitions and wellbeing.

Developing the skills of every team member, both professionally and personally, has been a long-term ambition for our Managing Partner, Guy Longhurst and through our educational commitments and long-standing quality, we are delighted to be recognised as a leading business in our region.”
