Ellisons Solicitors is once again delighted to support the Colchester AND Clacton Foodbanks, as well as the Ipswich Soup Kitchen this December, by organising a firm wide collection of food products for the charity.

Ellisons delivered the collection on Monday 5th December, just in time for Christmas to Colchester Foodbank, but the delivery was so huge they asked for some of the donation to be delivered to the Clacton food bank too!

In total, 84kg was donated to Colchester and a whopping 146.2kg to Clacton. Ipswich Soup Kitchen also received a staggering 60kg.

The original collection back in 2014 was organised by Commercial Property Solicitor, Bethan Williams. Bethan has volunteered at similar organisations in her hometown of Ipswich over a number of years and wanted to do something similar in Colchester.

Bethan said: ‘‘When we started the collection in 2014, I had no idea just how much food we would be able to donate and it’s fantastic that we’ve had the same positive response year on year. It’s important to be able to give back to our community especially at Christmas time and the donations and volunteers at the food bank go a long way to helping families in the town. I am delighted with the success of this year’s collection!’’

What’s more, this year Ellisons invited a number of contacts to help with the collection, including Nicholas Percival, Whybrow and Palmer & Partners. The three estate agents were only too happy to organise a collection within their Colchester offices.

The Colchester Foodbank helps the people of Colchester during crisis situations, whereby they are unable to put food on their table. After being referred, they receive food parcels from the charity.

An anonymous quote was given to the charity, highlighting just how much the donations mean to many people across the town: ‘‘I can never thank you enough for helping at such a hard time in my life.’’
