Ellisons Solicitors are delighted to officially mark the unveiling of a remarkable piece of artwork, which was especially created for Ellisons Solicitors in Colchester.
Rebekah Stovold is an artist originally from Ireland. She now lives in Colchester and happens to be a client of the firm. Upon hearing about Ellisons 250th anniversary, Rebekah enquired as to whether the firm would be having any special artwork commissioned to mark such a special occasion. At this stage this was not the case, and so talks began.
Rebekah worked on the piece throughout the summer, with the final piece ready in September. The firm has been waiting for the right time for the grand unveiling.
Guy Longhurst, Senior Partner of Ellisons said: ‘‘I was very excited to see Rebekah’s work and was not disappointed. This is another way to mark our 250th year, and something will be long lasting and that our clients can enjoy too.’’
Rebekah commented on her work: ‘‘The piece of artwork is entitle ‘Stormsurge.’ I wanted to recognise the permanence and stability of the company whilst acknowledging all the evolution that has occurred to take Ellisons where it is today. I believe a stormy seascape, with its representation of safe harbour, and the hint of dawn on the horizon, shows the refuge and succour offered by Ellisons, and that the sea evokes the geography of the company’s beginnings and, with its constant motion, also its progress through the years. Changing but always the same.’’
Rebekah is very popular in the world of art, and has even been commissioned most recently by Saatchi Art. She has been painting for over a decade and her work is on display in many galleries across Europe as well as many prestigious private collections across the world. What’s more, Rebekah also shares her talent by teaching art locally.
2014 marks Ellisons 250th Anniversary and as such the firm has been celebrating throughout with various events, sponsorship activities and charitable fundraising.
