Ellisons Solicitors is delighted that this year’s Legal 500 research continues to highlight the firm’s developments and achievements with recognition as a leading firm in nine categories. The research is based upon client and intermediary interviews as well as peer input.

As one of the East of England’s oldest established legal practices, and one of the leading law firms in Essex the firm has enjoyed a great year of success, which is reflected in the Legal 500 2013 directory.

The firm is now under the leadership of Guy Longhurst, who succeeded Peter Powell in May. Both Guy and Peter are partners in the ‘‘exemplary’’ commercial property team which has been regarded consistently as one of the leading commercial property departments in the region. Along with Lee Pearce (Head of Property Litigation), all four have received praise for their high profile commercial work, including the completion of the new lease of one of the biggest Sainsbury’s stores in the UK, on behalf of the Tollgate Partnership.

The ever expanding Corporate & Commercial department is also recommended. The team continues to act in connection with numerous high value transactions, with clients including Palace Pictures and East Anglian Food Ingredients.

Ellisons is also very highly regarded for the advice given to clients in connection with commercial disputes. Partner, Graeme Wallington, has advised clients upon a wide range of complex commercial disputes; a note-worthy example was his work for Smith’s Vitamins & Herbs in a contractual dispute involving both English and French jurisdiction.

Ellisons has always been highly regarded for its private client team, and this has continued under the leadership of Tim Logan. His department is once again noted for its work in personal tax, trusts and probate.

Senior Partner, Guy Longhurst, concludes: ‘‘I am delighted with the recommendations made by the Legal 500, which reflect the hard work of our team of excellent lawyers.’’

‘‘We aim to build long lasting relationships with our clients, to understand their requirements, be they businesses or private individuals and to provide them with high quality advice, which they can understand and which will help them to achieve their goals.’’
