On Thursday 6th October, Ellisons Solicitors , Colchester Borough Council and Fenn Wright, jointly hosted a seminar for some sixty plus delegates in the property development sector. The event was held at the new firstsite venue. During a period of uncertainty and change, the seminar provided an update on recent developments and provided a forum for local developers to share their views about the property development sector.

Speakers included Guy Longhurst of Ellisons giving a legal update on recent changes relevant to the sector and Roger Hayward of Fenn Wright commenting on the current state of the market. The two Colchester Borough Council speakers were Karen Syrett who spoke about planning in Colchester, focussing predominately on the Community Infrastructure Levy and Nigel Myers, Enterprise and Tourism Manager, who briefed the audience on progress of the higher speed broadband proposals in the Borough.

Guy Longhurst

Guy Longhurst, Property partner at Ellisons Solicitors was pleased with the audience’s response to the event: “Property continues to be a barometer for the economy and indications are that we still have hard times ahead. It is positive for the property development sector to get together from time to time and focus on what needs to be done, what can be done and what is being done.”
