The Home Office has made two very important announcement as follows as a result of COVID-19:
1. If you are in the UK and your leave expires between the 24th January 2020 and 31st May 2020
Your Visa will be extended to 31st May 2020 if you cannot leave the UK due to travel restrictions or self-isolation related to COVID-19. It will be necessary to contact the Coronavirus Immigration Team (CIT) to update your records if your Visa is expiring.
2. If you are applying to stay in the UK long term
The Home Office have announced that anyone who is currently in the UK on a temporary basis e.g. as a visitor and who wishes to switch to a long-term UK Visa, will be able to make an application from the UK until the 31st May 2020. This includes applications where you would usually need to apply for a Visa from your home Country.
This is a most important concession, and they give a number of individuals that would have had to return overseas to apply for their Visa’s the opportunity of applying from within the UK.
