Working closely with our Commercial Property team, we act for a diverse range of clients, including pubs, nightclubs, restaurants, leisure parks and wedding venues.  Our Licensing Lawyers assist with drawing up premises licence applications, transfer applications or variation applications; and represent our clients before local authority licensing committees on contested applications. We also have experience in representing interested parties on premises licence review applications.

In addition, our team has considerable experience with taxi and private hire licensing, including representing drivers and operators before licensing committees on contested applications and revocation proceedings.

Ian Seeley began his career as a trainee solicitor at the Crown Prosecution Service and then moved into the public sector, working on behalf of local authorities and a police force over a period of more than 10 years. In 2007, Ian joined Ellisons from another Suffolk law firm and was promoted to Partner in 2020. He specialises in construction law, regulatory and licensing law as well as general commercial litigation. Ian was promoted to Partner in 2020.
