Specialist Employment Law Solicitors supporting employees

We understand that things can sometimes go wrong with your job and your career and that if you are experiencing problems at work, this can cause uncertainty and be a stressful time.  At Ellisons our specialist employment law solicitors will give you clear, prompt and practical advice to help you resolve the issues as quickly as possible and on the right terms. We can offer support, advice and assistance on all aspects of employment law, no matter what your problem is, giving as much or as little help as you need and enhancing your prospects of achieving the best possible outcome with minimum delay, complications, or stress.

Whether it is a one-off piece of advice, or supporting you through a disciplinary or grievance process, or representing you in the Employment Tribunal, the expert Ellisons Employment team are here for you; with specialists available in Colchester, Chelmsford, IpswichBury St Edmunds and Frinton-on-Sea.

We will discuss costs with you at the outset and agree a course of action with you before you incur any costs.  We offer a range of different fee options ranging from conventional hourly rates to agreed fixed or capped fees where appropriate. Where you are considering pursuing an Employment Tribunal claim then you may have the benefit of Legal Expenses insurance to help with funding.

More specific information about cost associated with pursuing certain claims in the Employment Tribunal can be found here: Service Information.

Does a settlement agreement need to be witnessed?

A settlement agreement is a binding contract which defines how your employment term ends. Often it includes a severance payment which is conditional on an agreement by you as the employee not to pursue any claims you might have from your employment or its termination. Whether the signing of a settlement agreement is witnessed or not, employees should be mindful that the agreement is not ratified and legal until they have received legal advice from an independent adviser before signing it. Ellisons’ employment specialists are on hand to help you in exactly this situation, giving you all the guidance you need to fully understand the consequences of signing the agreement and can also make clear the value of the settlement offer against the potential of any claims you may have and on the amounts being offered.

If you would like to discuss how we can help you with your Settlement Agreement or any other employment issues,  please get in touch.
