    • Contentious Trusts and Probate, Mediation and Court of Protection

    Kay joined Ellisons as Partner & Head of Contentious Trusts and Probate in July 2023. Kay is also Head of Court of Protection.

    Kay qualified as a solicitor in 2007 and has worked in Essex and Suffolk ever since, initially dealing with a mixture of non-contentious and contentious trust, probate and Court of Protection work before deciding to specialise in purely contentious work. She endeavours to deal with disputes responsibly and constructively, prioritising solutions over unnecessary conflict.

    Kay is an accredited Civil and Commercial Mediator, a full member of STEP and ACTAPS as well as a full member of The Association of Lifetime Lawyers, ensuring all clients are treated with respect and dignity.

    Kay is a member of the East Anglia committee of the Association of Lifetime Lawyers.

    Kay worked on the case of James v Scudamore [2023] EWHC 996 (Ch) which is the leading case on the doctrine of probate laches.

    Kay is recognised by the Legal 500 as a Next Generation Partner.

    • Bringing and defending claims under the Trusts of Land and Appointment of Trustees Act 1996 (“TOLATA”);
    • Proprietary estoppel claims;
    • Claims involving the rectification of a Will;
    • Claims involving the removal of an Executor of an Estate;
    • Disputes concerning the administration of trusts;
    • Disputed and complex Court of Protection Applications (Property and Financial affairs and Health and Welfare);
    • Mediation of Commercial Litigation and Contentious Probate Disputes.

    Kay helps run a Fareshare Food Pantry, where they take a delivery every week of surplus supermarket food and redistribute it to the local community. Kay also likes walking her two golden retrievers.
