Leading Essex Law Firm, Ellison’s Solicitors, was one of many companies to offer its services as part of THE ONE competition held during 2011.

Ellison’s challenged themselves to finding a top entrepreneur from East Anglia and local businessman Alec Williamson of Coddenham based Calvors was crowned the winner in December 2011. Since then Ellison’s have been on hand to offer legal advice, on the purchase of the Rampant Horse at Needham Market. Philip Roberts, Commercial Property lawyer, led on the public house acquisition.

Calvors Brewery was established in 2008 by Alec, with the aim of creating real English lagers, brewed in the heart of Suffolk. The lager is brewed using only the finest ingredients including locally grown malted barley and whole hops to create outstanding natural lagers with totally original flavours. Calvors currently produces four varieties of lager; 3Point8, Premium, Amber and Dark.

Alec Williamson said: ‘‘I am delighted to have won THE ONE competition and look forward to all that it brings! Legal advice from Ellison’s, for the purchase of The Rampant Horse, was one of the first elements of the prize to be used. Philip Roberts provided an excellent, smooth service for the purchase of the 16th century Suffolk pub. We will open the Rampant Horse soon, offering our lagers, local real ales, fresh ground coffees and good pub food, using local suppliers where we can.”
